Sectarian strife will persist in Syria after Assad’s fall, top U.S. intelligence official says – The Washington Post.

This posting is a little on the “Captain Obvious” side for any observers of the Middle East.  Nationalism hasn’t been a strong rallying point for Arab communities throughout their entire history, though one could argue that they haven’t been nations for terribly long so it isn’t as if they have much practice at it.  Arabs have always organized mostly along religious lines more than anything else, and civil war is rarely ever a unifying force for a society.  This kind of reporting makes me embarrassed for the intelligence community.
