The article does an excellent job outlining the arguments that surround this issue, so I won’t belabor the point with more commentary.
Wait, I lied. I will comment on this – think of how early we start covering up the chests of our females. Think about bathing suits for little girls versus little boys. If breasts themselves (only female ones, not man boobs, obviously) are the actual problem, why do we expect females to cover their chests before they even hit puberty? Or how about the woman who had a complete double mastectomy and was still penalized for going topless at a public pool?
Because its not about the breasts, people. Its about having double standards. Think what you like, but its a very subtle oppression of women by declaring our bodies inherently sexual, no matter what age, and then requiring us to cover up. Think of Islam and the countries that require females to cover their hair, and if you don’t see the parallels then I’d be glad to help.
